Letter from the Superintendent
Hello Dragon Fans,

Pittsburg Community Schools take great pride in providing a wide variety of quality extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and programs for our students. These activities are sanctioned by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. KSHSAA provides consistent standards for practice and fair play as well as sportsmanship guidelines for all participating schools in the State of Kansas.

The quality of these activities and programs is second to none and provide many of our students with opportunities to continue their educational experiences beyond high school. Our district believes that extra-curricular activities play an important role in the development of well-rounded students. Students participating in activities develop skills that will help them be successful in life.

It is our responsibility as a community to insure that our students develop these skills in an atmosphere where appropriate behaviors and personal skills are modeled by adults and others attending our activities. It is important that we all share in the responsibility of showing our students the skills and behaviors that will develop positive character, leading to success in career and life. Those skills are outlined in The Dragon Way, the districts approach to developing positive growth and development.

USD 250 Staff and Board of Education work cooperatively with the parents and community to provide quality facilities for these activities. Your presence at these activities creates an atmosphere of support and high expectations for our students unlike any other in Southeast Kansas.

We know that you will enjoy watching and supporting our students in the various activities. Thank you for promoting good sportsmanship, fair play, and a sense of pride in our students, school, and district.

GO Dragons!

Rich Proffitt,Superintendent
